Neon Kentucky 2012–Letter from Reverend Dana Allen Walsh

Dear HYG Parents & Youth,

What excites you most about our upcoming trip to Neon, KY? The 20 hour bus ride filled with silly movies and tons of snacks? Is it the physical ache after a day of hauling, building, and repairing? Or do you like the evening discussions, group songs, and honest sharing? Maybe it’s the trips to the Dollar Store and Ice-cream shack? Or are you inspired by the moving and authentic worship services at First Church of Neon with Pastor Mark? Or the fun of forming deep and connected relationships with your peers and God?

Whatever it is that excites you about the mission trip to Neon, KY, mark your calendars for April 14^th – 21^st!

We will depart on Friday, April 14th at 7 p.m. and after a full week of hard work, we’ll arrive back in Lexington on Saturday, April 21^st in the afternoon. This is an important opportunity to build affordable housing and renovate homes for low-income families with our friends at H.O.M.E.S., Inc. If you are interested in additional information, look for HOMES, Inc page on Facebook and they also have a new website: http://www.homesincky.com. We also encourage you to seek out individuals/families who have participated in the Neon trip in previous years and discuss what the trip meant for them and learn what information they may pass along to you. Two weeks before the trip, we will have an information night for parents and youth on Sunday, April 1^st at 7p.m. in the Upper Room and you’ll get more details on what to pack and what to expect on the trip.

Registration for the Hancock Mission Trip Information:

Please carefully read and fill out the forms on the HYG blog (hancockyouthgroup.wordpress.com). You do not need to print out these forms. It’s easier for you and the church if you fill them out on the blog and submit them.
Bring in a check for $550 by Friday, February 17^th to hold your spot on the trip. All checks should be given to Julina Rundberg, our Church Administrator. If she’s not in her office, you can slide them under the door or place them in her mailbox in the Workroom. Scholarships are available, call Dana at 781.862.4220.

If you register and then are unable to go on the trip for any reason, you can receive a full refund of $550 by March 2^nd. After March 2^nd, you will receive a refund of $250 and the remaining money will be considered a charitable donation.
